young media category & brief

Entries will be due Wednesday April 9, 2008 | Ready to enter?
Go to the Entry Form.

Use the National Post Media Brief for your entry.
You must be 30 or younger to enter this category (i.e. born after 21 June 1977).

This competition is open to Canadians either working in the media advertising field or studying advertising / media / communications. Entrants are encouraged to enter as a team of two, although individual entrants would be accepted. This Young Media competition has been created for the promotion and continued advancement of media’s significant role in the communication mix. Creativity and ideas come from all disciplines and we want to advance the cause of media innovation.

National Post is sponsoring this initiative and will also be the focus of the case. Entries will be judged by a group of senior, well respected media and advertising professionals representing a broad cross-section of media groups and marketers.

Best of all - the winning team is sent to the 2008 Cannes Advertising Festival in the south of France.
This team will receive:

  • Airfare (Toronto to Nice, return)
  • Cannes Media Lions delegate registration
  • Tickets to the media gala

here’s how it works:

Students and professionals are invited to submit entries. You must be 30 years or younger as of June 21, 2008. You must attach a photocopy of your driver’s license or passport clearly showing your age to the reverse of your submission.

A type written plan of no more than 800 -1000 words (suggested template or outline can be viewed here - pdf, 56K ) is required with an executive summary exhibit board. The board should NOT exceed 48cm x 64cm and contain only 100 words or less on the board. Do not identify your agency name on front of the board.

Please see the downloads section below to find appropriate graphic files from National Post to help you make your case, and to provide visuals for your exhibit board.

For more help, please click here to see an example of a visual of the exhibit board (pdf, 525K). Again, the board should NOT exceed 48cm x 64cm, and contain only 100 words or less. Lastly, you can also contact Melissa Rodway for more information.

The plan, buying strategies, ideas and example board must be done by you and your partner alone. Please do not seek ideas or input from the sales community nor your supervisors/managers. You will be asked to sign a statement saying that you and your partner worked on this project without assistance from senior staff members.
